Deputy Mayor Betty Clarke

I have been actively involved in municipal leadership and community service in Lewisporte for many years. My experience includes serving 10 years as Mayor, 1 year as Deputy Mayor, and 1 year as a Councillor. Throughout these roles, I have worked with residents, community partners, and local organizations to support programs, enhance services, and contribute to the growth and well-being of our town.
Beyond Council, I have been involved with a number of boards and community groups, including the Lewisporte Heritage Board, Library Board, Lewisporte Goodwill, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Boy Scouts of Canada, Gateway Developers, the Lewisporte Open Learning Centre, the Calypso Foundation, the Lewisporte Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Community Business Development Corporation (CBDC). I have also volunteered as a Beaver Leader and served as Vice-Chairperson of the Lewisporte Collegiate School Council.
I have been honoured to receive recognition for my work in the community, including the Citizen of the Year Award from the Lewisporte Chamber of Commerce and the Confederation 75 Commemorative Medal. In every role, I have been fortunate to work alongside dedicated individuals who share a commitment to strengthening and supporting Lewisporte.
It is a privilege to serve this community, and I remain focused on continuing to contribute positively to the town I am proud to call home.
